I love the game of
golf, and have a passion for the turf industry.
The ultimate goal is to always meet or exceed membership and their guest expectations.
During my professional career I have built upon a solid education with many
seasons of experience in golf course maintenance and management. A few key qualifications are:
– Years of experience at one of the most prestigious and classic clubs in the
demanding Northeast
– Accustomed to cool season grasses and difficult climate conditions
– Acute attention to detail with broad agronomic background and education
– Extensive golf course construction, irrigation and renovation experience
– Excellent communication skills and ability to develop strong rapport with membership
PORTFOLIO
THREE PILLARS OF MAINTENANCE
AGRONOMICS
Agronomically sound fundamentals will provide firm and fast conditions. These can include:
– Precise nutrient inputs using tissue testing
– Solid chemical prevention program along with cultural IPM monitoring
– Calculated irrigation practices to provide healthy, but championship conditions
– Timely and Aggressive aerification practices
And a 'Proactive Approach':
Identify, communicate, and rectify areas of concern before they develop into a problem; shade, need for drainage, undesirable grass species, and more are all crucial to correct.
LEADERSHIP / TRAINING
Training Seasonal staff how to properly do their daily tasks is vital to the success of a golf course. I strive to provide a cohesive environment where everyone takes ownership in the golf course and the tasks they complete.
Effective Communication is key to creating a successful staff. Coordinating and motivating a staff of over 60 individuals takes patience, leadership, and a will to go the extra mile. All of which I strive for on a daily basis.
Continued education is also vital to grow and learn as a professional. I continuously attend education seminars, read articles, and talk with industry professionals to advance my knowledge base. I have been lucky enough to be mentored by so many great professionals. I feel it is my duty to pass that along to the staff, that are where I once was, to grow our industry and the game of golf for the future.
ATTENTION TO DETAIL
'LITTLE THINGS LEAD TO BIG THINGS'
Every little detail matters: Trimming sprinkler heads, Bunker rake placement, tree pruning, etc. There is literally no detail that is too small. We must see the golf course through the eyes of the golfer and find these details to maintain consistently.
We also must ensure the course playability is consistent day in and day out. This can include bunker maintenance, green speed and firmness, and fairway firmness.
As the tag line shows above, the little details are what separate the good from the great. I feel my skills in this critical area separate me from my peers.
